I sent this guy a more detailed explanation, however I may as well set the record straight here for all:
>>Thus others may submit as I have done.
The engine has no remove feature to check a phone number, thus we could wind up with a pile of phone numbers that are disconected. With a working url, we can affordably pulse a page to make sure it's still there. So we keep the listings to website owners only.
>>We do cater to many local police and state police officers and local car dealers etc.
Judging from some of the other posts and numerous letters, I can see that other charter capt's and individuals without websites would like to have a spot to say what they need to say. Quite frankly, I don't mind this at all. As long as people continue to find the fishfinder useful and the post or listing is in it's proper place (where people expect it to be).
I'll have something new in a week to address the needs of people who have no website. I need to figure out how to keep the listings updated without expending alot of time or money (This is still a hobby for me.). Perhaps, I will create a program to automatically email a listing owner every few months. No response would trigger an auto delete routine.
The point is, I've heard this request before and I am working on the problem.
>> It could mean business for AOL.<<
I just use AOL's service. You would too if you woke up every morning to 350+ emails. That delete feature is too useful. Imagine trying to download all that junk befoe being able to delete it. It would take hours to get it done. This way, It's aols problem to store it not mine.
Look for some changes over the next week or so. I think you'll like what you see.
