Due to the great weekend, 10 of B-Fast's Charters were able to fish the bank on the JANET B, DECISIVE, SASHAMY, DRIFTER and HACKER. The sand eels were concentrated in the shoal-water on Stellwagen's north end. A jig and rubber bait teaser was the best prescription for success. Scott Cowell's (Marion, MA) group had great weather and fishing on Friday with Capt. Frank. Dennis West's (Cranbury,NJ) 3 boat charter, Bill Torry's (Red Bank, NJ) 2 boat charter and Dan Nyhius's (Ringwood,NJ) 2 boat charter all headed back to New Jersey arm-weary with coolers full of cod fish filets. The Jersey Boys did well without the "Jersey Clams" Most of the cod were 6-15# with a few pollock and an occasional wolffish mixed in--no haddock to date. Sunday's "Make-up" charters with Dom Bulone (Amityville Hbr,NY)/Steve Maynard (Southbridge,MA) and Steve Lally (Brooklyn,NY) /Mike Greenstein (Madison,CT) found the fish more scatterd but were still able to fill the boxes. On Monday, Chick Hembrow's (Leominster, MA) group found the fishing slower with fewer medium (market) cod in the catch. As I write, a gale center is working through New England fostering cancellations for at least the next two days.
