A break in the weather bringing the prevailing southwest wind pattern has allowed charters through most of the week. We have shifted our efforts to the south end of the bank and the deep-water to the east. As a result, we have been boating more haddock and wolffish. Jigging is still producing best both on the shoals in the deep-water. The most noteable trips included Luke Monte's group from Tom's River, NJ on Friday 5/5. Luke's group filled the coolers with cod filets as well as boating a 27# pool winning cod and a few haddock to 7 pounds. All of the haddock have been keepers. On Saturday, 5/6, B-Fast charters had five vessels running. Dennis Zervos and friend Pete, from Brooklyn and Lake Ronkonkoma, NY respectively, made a 2nd trip to Stellwagen. The group boated the largest wolffish of the season, tipping the scales at 35 pounds--a real monster. Chuck Garen's group of Glastonbury, CT did exceptionally well with cod and landed two cod over 20 pounds with a few haddock and wolfs. Water temperature is still in the 40's. We anticipate the good fishing to continue through June.
