Jordan caught this 36" northern pike on an orange and black Baby Buchertail in a nearby river called the "Nith".
Walkin' The Dog To Hit the Jackpot -Ethan
Jordan and I had used Zara Spooks for a long time for bass and we had lots of action so when we read about Giant Jackpots and other walk-the-dog styles of bait for muskie it was a natural buy. And boy was that the best purchase I made that season! >>>
Bass in the Winter -Brady Borum (guest writter)
You know it may be that time of year you hate, but for most of us it comes around once a year. Its time to hang the fishing poles up and cover the boat for the winter.>>>
Illinois Outdoors -Don Dziedzina (guest writter)
Northern Illinois had a bad year for ice fishing. Hopefully this year will be different. Many, many anglers look forward to a few good days of ice fishing. Since a great number of us didn't even dust off our ice rods last year, let's mention a few things to prepare for an outing or two should that opportunity come.>>>

Tackle In The Boat - A thing all fisherpeople must do, buy all the tackle they can. To be able to get your money's worth of all of this "needed" tackle you switch lures frequently. This is all fine and dandy, but what if you don't have the time to put the lures back into the tacklebox? Perhaps throw it on the top of the tacklebox or maybe on an empty seat. You may think this is alright at the time, but once you get a good size fish floppin' around in the boat, you may think differently. A good solution is to get a small bucket and hang your lures on that keeping the bodys inside. Then in the event of a fish, simply move the bucket to somewhere that is safe.
Wind-A Poor Man's Friend - To save valuable time, energy and possibly a trolling motor batterie, plan your day according to the wind. I suggest that you don't plan where you are going to fish before you know the direction of the wind. You should always be flexible enough to plan where you fish accordingly. The wind can usually be assimilated to take you right along the shore at a good pace if you start at the right spot. This allows you to cover the water very quickly. It is sort of a poor man's trolling motor which only goes in one direction. Cast quick retrieve lures all along the shore as you drift by. Good luck!
