What Lures for Where?
Try to imitate the food, which is most likely to live wherever you are fishing. Examples: If you are fishing in a rocky bottom area, you would want to use such lures as crayfish, jigs, or grubs because it is most likely that bass are searching the bottom for their meals. In or around a weed patch, you would most likely want to use a minnow lure such as a stickbait, crankbait, spinnerbait, spinner, or spoon. In a mixed area with both weeds, and rocks, use a lure that imitates whatever you feel is more plentiful in that area. Logs can hold both minnows and crayfish, therefor they are one of the favorite hangouts for a bass, making it a first place to cast if possible. Use the same lures as you would in a mixed area. Weedless lures and texas rigged plastics help to avoid hang-ups.
