Scent Saver Tips For Walleye

For soft baits the scent lasts longer, for hard bait you should replace it more often. You usually don't need to replace the scent as often as the bottle suggests. For plastic baits we suggest replacing it about every 10, or so, casts. As for crankbaits, you should replace it every 5 casts, or so. When Fishing in pairs, one partner should put scent on his bait and cast in a "fan method" (see fig.1) and the other should bring his unscented lure right after where the scented lure was cast. Fish will usually smell the scented bait and come to investigate. Your lure will most likely be long gone and the fish will loose interest and go away unless a second lure follows it up, enticing a strike from the fish which was attracted by the scented lure. When fishing alone, you should follow your cast up.
