I have had many request asking how to cut Shad, and other bait fish. The above pic shows an 8 inch Shad, and how I would cut it. I would cut the Shad into three usable pieces, then discard the tail..On a fish such as a Sucker, or Carp, I would simply cut fillets off the fish, and not cut thru the entire fish, like I did the Shad.
This pic show a 6 inch Shad, just make your cuts thru the entire fish, this time only two usable cuts, the head, and mid section.
The above pic show how I would hook a piece of cut Shad, or other bait fish. I always put the hook in the corner, thru the thickest part of the bait.
